Motivational speaker and author, Robert Little will visit Rachel Patterson Elementary School Monday Nov. 3 to speak with students and parents.
His motivational assembly programs are about making good choices, self-esteem and achievement.
Leigh Ann Rowland, RPES media specialist, said she heard Little speak at the Alabama Library Media Expo and knew he would be someone that could relate well to the community.
Little began his speaking career 26 years ago and began writing eight years ago.
He said he began writing as a way to reinforce his messages.
Little will be speaking with children throughout the day and said he wants to help instill a love of reading in them.
In preparation of his visit, Rowland has been reading one of his books over the intercom to children every day.
Little will be reading from his book “Grandma’s Biscuits” during Monday’s programs.
The books were inspired by imagining a meeting between his son and deceased mother.
Little said the book shows a strong relationship between grandmother and grandson, one that he says is especially relevant today with many children being raised by grandparents.
He will be presenting to students during the day starting with first grade from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., second grade from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and kindergarten from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. He will present to the parents at PTO beginning at 6 p.m.
Little said his presentation for the parents will share information with them about things they can do to help their children be more successful in school and at home.
An anonymous donor has provided enough money to purchase all of the children one of Little’s books.
