Gas prices in Atmore have significantly dropped in the past few weeks, but are still much higher in comparison to neighboring communities.
Gas in Atmore on Tuesday was $2.39 and in Brewton it was seen as low as $1.99.
Atmore resident Jessie Richardson said he is frustrated with the variation in prices.
Richardson said he makes sure to fill up his tank when he is in nearby cities like Bay Minette and Pensacola, Fla. where gas is lower.
Roy White, co-owner and vice president of Diamond Gas Stations Inc., said the varying prices have to do with competition.
White said cutting the price that much in one day was unusual, but was part of today’s market.
In reference to gas prices in Atmore being higher, White said it is not always like that.
White said this was due to the varying market areas.
