Wind Creek Tribe's pride
The Wind Creek Casino and Hotel is certainly a sight to behold inside and out and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians should be proud of coming so far.
From a bingo hall to the high-rise seen from a mile down Interstate 65, whether you agree with gaming or not, the achievements they have made in bettering themselves as an enterprise are undeniable.
Also indisputable is the recognition it will bring to Atmore and maybe instead of being that city where the prison is, we’ll become an even more thriving town known as one of the best places to live, work and go to school. Things those of us living here already know, but are not yet apparent to the rest of the state.
As a community, we can look forward to the entertainment value Wind Creek brings with plans for an amphitheater and culinary school and spa in the works; we’ll only have to travel down the street instead of miles out of town.
Let’s not forget too the attention this will bring to the city’s Rivercane project.
Instead of taking the opening of Wind Creek as a time to reflect on what you may see as negative, it should be a time to commend the Poarch community on its accomplishments both current and future.
