The American Legion along with faces associated with the sport of baseball are looking to field a team for the American Legion Baseball League.
The Legion hopes to have the team fielded in time for the start of the regular season.
Former college baseball coach Floyd Adams said the team would not compete against Babe Ruth teams in Atmore.
Several issues have the team in its initial state of wait-and-see.
Funding is the main issue that is keeping the start up in a holding pattern.
Adams said the first year of the team would incur the most money because they of the things needed.
The age of players on the team would range from 16-19-years-old.
Adams said the team is already drawing interest from players in several areas.
For the team to be able to take the field this year, it would have to be set up and players on a roster by the first of April.
Adams said the team would need to be field by that date because of all the purchases that need to be made as well as a schedule.
Adams also said that a team like this would be a good thing for the city.
