ATMORE - Mr. Charlie Jackson Jr. 77, of Atmore died on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Jackson was a native of Atmore and graduated from Escambia County Training School in 1951 and from Alabama A&M University in 1955. He was a retired animal research scientist with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture in Washington D.C. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jackson; his parents, Jessie B. and Charlie Jackson Sr. and two brothers, Archie Jackson Sr. and Ozell Jackson.
He is survived by three daughters, Ann (Thomas) Harris of Cleveland, Ohio, Charmaine Jackson and Charlene (Kevin) Matthews of Gaithersburg, MD; one son, the Rev. Anthony (Janet) Jackson of Wallingford, Conn.; one brother, Robert Jackson of Hayward, Calif. and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore with the Rev. Anthony Jackson, eulogist and the Rev. Willie Hawthorne, host pastor. Interment will be held in the Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC directing.
