First-year head coaches usually have a tough go of motivating players and turning them into winners.
For Escambia County head baseball coach David Hill motivating and teaching his players to be winners comes almost naturally.
Hill is in his first year as the head coach, and he said he is having a good first year with the Blue Devils.
Nine games into the 2009 season the Blue Devils hold a 3-6 record, which is not a place where Hill or his players want to be.
Hill said that his team is constantly improving and is looking like they are grasping everything he is teaching.
Teaching his team the game is one thing that Hill makes sure he does all the time.
He said he does his best to teach them on the field and off the field to help make them better as a whole.
Escambia County athletic director Kyle Davis is a former baseball teammate of Hill’s and knows that he has what it takes to be a successful head coach.
Davis said that it has not taken long for Hill to have an impact on the Blue Devils.
With only nine games done, Hill still sees a lot of great opportunities for his team.
Hill said that he still think his team will make the playoffs.
