Kelley’s Ambulance Service shut down operations Friday after four and a half years in business, and in a statement released by the owner, Joey Kelley, it was made clear that they were forced to close due to the regulatory body of emergency services.
Atmore Mayor Howard Shell said while Kelley’s did a good job of providing for the community, there is no question that the city will still be well taken care of.
Atmore Ambulance will be assuming all emergency service for Atmore and is working alongside Kelley’s Ambulance for a quick and seamless transition.
Two Kelley’s employees, one a paramedic and one an emergency medical technician, are now working at Atmore Ambulance.
Kelley said Friday was an emotional day and reiterated that sentiment again in the statement.
The businesses gratitude for the community was also expressed.
