To the editor:
The Turtle Point staff and I would like to thank the following sponsors for making Celebrate the Environment Day on Saturday, May 12, a wonderful success. Over 1,300 citizens, students and teachers enjoyed the day of fun and educational events.
The sponsors for the day were Gulf Coast Resource Conservation and Development Council; Legacy, Partners in Environmental Education; Escambia County Bank of Flomaton; Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Atmore; Town of Flomaton; Gregg's of Atmore; Escambia County Lawn and Rental Center, Inc., Atmore; Wal-Mart #1620 of Brewton; Audio Plus, Atmore; Apple Barrel, Atmore; Jeff's Feed and Farm Supply; Food Fair of Atmore; Food Fair of Brewton; Subway of Flomaton; Winn Dixie of Atmore; Piggly Wiggly of Century; Piggly Wiggly of Atmore; Eastside Chapel.
I would also like to thank The Tri-City Ledger, The Atmore Advance, The Brewton Standard and WPFL of Flomaton and Century for the special coverage before and during the event.
Turtle Point has been richly blessed with a wonderful group of volunteers as well, who have been on board since its opening in 1999. Those volunteers helped make Celebrate the Environment Day a success as well.
Due to proration, the next two years will be difficult for all school systems. I hope that Turtle Point can continue to count on the citizens of Escambia County during this rough time.
Thanks for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Shirley West
Turtle Point Director
