Escambia Academy Cougars athlete Braxton Chastang is a true player when it comes to sports. He plays football, baseball, is a record holder in track and next winter will suit up for the Cougars’ basketball program.
Chastang, a sophomore at EA, plays all of these sports simply because he loves to play them and knows it will help his future.
He said he is taking on basketball so he can help boost his transcript when he graduates.
Chastang’s favorite sport is football. He is a running back for the Cougars and started for the junior varsity squad last season.
He said he loves football because of the plays he makes and the energy he gets from it.
On the football field, Chastang finds motivation all over the place.
He said that his surroundings before a game get him motivated before the kick off.
As for his stats, Chastang has one game from last season that sticks out in his mind.
He said in a game against the Clarke Prep Gators he tore up the field.
When he’s not on the field, Chastang enjoys learning about events in the past.
He said his favorite subject is history because of everything that happened in different eras.
Chastang’s interests outside of school are typical of most sophomores. He said he enjoys hanging out with friends, eating and watching movies. He added his favorite movie is one that gets him thinking about football.
If he is not hanging out with friends or watching his favorite movie, Chastang likes to earn money.
He said all he does to get some cash is get a little gas.
As for his favorite memory in his two years at the Academy, Chastang received that honor recently.
He said that at the AISA JV State Track Meet he received an extra special award.
Chastang said he hopes to add more trophies and memories before he graduates.
