MLK Day events around corner

Residents of the Atmore area are invited to several activities this weekend to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The annual Unity Prayer Breakfast will be Saturday at the Freemanville Head Start center from 8 to 11 a.m. Admission is $12 at the door and pays for a buffet meal.
Local ministers will conduct prayers and the 2013 MLK King and Queen will be crowned.
On Sunday Liberty Missionary Baptist Church will host the 27th observance of the holiday at 3 p.m. sponsored by the Progressive Civic and Recreational Club.
The program will feature a sermon by the Rev. Issac Bradley Sr., pastor, songs by the host choir, the “I Have a Dream” speech and songs directed by Willie Grissett.
The 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade, march and memorial program will take place Monday with line up from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. at Houston Avery Park. The parade will begin at 10 a.m.
The program will start after the parade around 11:30 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Escambia County Middle School assistant principal the Rev. Warren Maye.
The ECMS choir director James Weber will provide entertainment and sack lunches will be provided.
