JDCC signs recruits

Jefferson Davis Community College softball and volleyball head coach Misti Nims and baseball head coach Darrell Blevins have been out and about getting recruits for their respective sports for the 2009-2010 sports seasons.
Softball:
JDCC Lady Warhawk softball coach Misti Nims has signed nine recruits to play softball in Brewton for the 2010 season.
Four of the nine recruits are from Alabama and five are from the state of Florida. Of the five from Florida, three are from the same school at Escambia High. The softball recruits are as followed:
Kairee Newton, Greenville High, Lacey Wiggins, Headland High, Jessica Myrick, Tharptown High, Sarah Dunaway, Tate High, FL, Brittany McCastle, Escambia High, FL, Brittany Litton, Escambia High, FL, Andrea Ruschel, Escambia High, FL, Elise Schanley, Lemon Bay High, FL, Alley Smith, Fayetteville High, AL
Volleyball:
Nims has also signed eight volleyball recruits for the 2009 season:
Casey Perkins, Walton High, FL, Caitlyn Stewart, Walton High, FL, Kali Flanders, Baker High, FL, Amberly Odell, Hatton High, Chelsey Slone, East Lawrence High, Niki Davis, Russell County High, Ashley Adams, Leroy High, Laney Barr, Home School
Nims said that recent JDCC graduate Brittney Rogers has signed to play volleyball at the next level.
Nims also added that softball player Ashleigh Allgood will continue her softball career at University of West Florida.
Baseball:
In baseball, Blevins said the team will return 10 players from the 2009 season. Those players include; Andrew Favant, Harry Haring, Ryne Phillips,
Blake Long, Taylor Register, Chance Lawrence, Michael King, Reid Wynn, Shane, Ikner, and Sean Little.
New players to join the Warhawks include, LHP-Chad Petersen from Gulf Shores, MIF-Matthew Watkins and OF-Stephen Scoggins from Leroy, LHP/OF-William Taylor from Jackson, RHP-Ryan Drummonds from Sylacauga,
MIF-Robbie Jernigan from Pine Forest, IF-Mike McMillion from Milton,
RHP-Maurice Leverette from Washington County, MIF/C-Tyler Walker from Clarke County, OF/RHP-Zach Payne and IF-Ryan Jacobs from G. W. Long, LHP/IF-Cody Vickery from Flomaton, RHP-Sam Sharpe from T. R. Miller, C-Eric Coley from Escambia County, AL, RHP-William Shell from W.S. Neal. Other offers are pending.
“This has been a very good recruiting year. I feel there will not be any drop off in talent and we actually should be slightly deeper when considering this facet of a squad,” Blevins said. “All of these players were very good for their high school teams and had outstanding seasons. We have been following most of these guys for a year or more and actually had them in for their visits back during the early part of last fall semester. Many knew early in the year that Jeff Davis was the place for them.”
Blevins said on top of being very good players, his feeling is that those guys are excellent individuals as well.
This was so important in our recent success. I believe our institution, our baseball program and the community of Brewton will be proud of this group once we get underway. It should be another exciting group to watch and follow over the next couple of seasons.”
