EA girls beat Jackson

All five seniors started and scored for the Lady Cougars in a 67-45 drubbing of Jackson Academy on senior night.
Sydney McGhee led the senior class with eight points. Allie Brooks added four, while Brooke McGhee, Paige Allen and Bre Rolin each scored two.
Grayson Emmons, a junior, led all scorers with 28 points, while Peyton Snider added 10.
“We shot the ball a lot better than we have lately,” said coach David Walker. “If we can keep that going it will really help a lot.”
The Lady Cougars shot 42 percent from two-point range and 33 percent from deep in the win.
The game started tight with the scored knotted at six with 4:13 left in the first quarter, but a Lacie Flowers three-pointer broke the tie and Peyton Snider put the Lady Cougars up five at 11-6.
An Emmons three-pointer put EA up by six and a Flowers make extended the lead to 10 at 18-8 with 11 seconds left. The Lady Cougars finished the quarter on a 13-2 run to take a 21-8 lead.
The Eagles were able to cut the lead to nine with 4:18 left in the half, but a Snider bucket at the 3:34 mark put EA up 10.
The two teams traded three-pointers over the next three possessions. The Lady Coguars took a 34-25 lead into halftime.
EA scored the first seven points of the third quarter before Jackson got on the board at the 2:38 mark. JA hits a three-pointer to cut the EA lead to 41-29.
Emmons ends the quarter with a bucket to put the Lady Cougars up 48-34.
Buckets by Sydney McGhee and Brooks gave EA a 52-34 lead with 5:04 left in the final quarter. Emmons connects on a three-pointer to put them up 57-34.
Shots by Allen and Rolin gave the Lady Cougars a 19-point lead at 63-44. A three-point play by Sydney McGhee gave the Cougars the 67-45 final.
The Lady Cougars will take on Bessemer Academy in the region tournament in Selma Thursday at 6 p.m. The winner moves on to the state tournament.
