A sixth-grader with Atmore ties got a unique experience during this year’s National Football League season when he interviewed San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh after a game.

Jadon Borsarge, the son of Atmore native Felicia Murphy Bosarge, met Harbaugh after the 49ers week 12 game against the New Orleans Saints, while on assignment with Kids Scoop News to interview Saints’ safety Malcolm Jenkins.

The interview with Harbaugh, who will coach in his first Super Bowl Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, happened when Jadon struck up a conversation with Harbaugh’s wife, Sarah Harbaugh.

“A blonde lady asked if I was a reporter,” he said. “It turned out to be Harbaugh’s wife.

“When she found out I was a reporter, she said she would have Jim answer a few questions for me,” Jadon wrote in an email. “It ended up that the Jim she was talking about was 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh.”

Jadon wrote that he and Harbaugh talked about the game against the Saints, but also about who inspired him to play football.

Jadon’s mother was born at Greenlawn Hospital and attended A.C. Moore Elementary until fifth grade when her family moved to Mobile. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1984. She met Jadon’s father Austin Boarge while at Murphy.

In addition to being hired at Kids Scoop News, a weekly newspaper insert geared at kids with a circulation of 7.5 million nationwide, Jadon is also the sports writer at his school paper at Corona Creek Elementary in Petaluma, Calif.

Jadon’s first story as a sports writer was focused on the new 49ers stadium and included an interview with the team’s Public Relations Director Bob Lange.

“We met and discussed his role with the organization and the construction of the new stadium,” Jadon wrote in a letter emailed to The Atmore Advance. “I continue to communicate with him and send copies of all my articles. He has been very encouraging and kind.”

Jadon has also written a feature on 49ers rookie running back and former Oregon star LaMichael James.

“I contacted his high school coach in Texas, Pat Brady,” Jadon wrote. “We had a phone interview and communicated through email.”

Jadon also contacted the 49ers equipment manager, Steve Urbaniak, about new uniforms and, while visiting family, he interviewed Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage.

Jadon played running back for the Petaluma Panthers last fall. He scored eight touchdowns. He had 750 yards rushing and 300 yards receiving.

“One of my goals is to have my articles in numerous newspapers throughout the country,” Jadon wrote. “I want to share football with everyone. I love football.”

While he said football is a passion for him, so is writing.

“I really love writing and I think I’m good at it,” Jadon said.

He said he would like to get a communications or law degree from The University of Alabama and would like to play football in the future.
