NOKOMIS - Mr. E. Ray James, 77, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 at a Mobile Hospital.
Ray was a native and lifelong resident of Nokomis. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and owner and operator of James Spreader Service.
His parents, Creal and Malisa James; two brothers, William James and Harold James and three sisters, Eleanor Hall, Beatrice Rice and Elsie Hemmert preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 55 years, Ann James of Nokomis; two sons, Phillip James (Denise) of Nokomis and Tony (Vickie) James of Atmore; three sisters, Ruth Jones of Fairhope, Faye Smith (Dan) of Duleth, Ga. and Betty Hutto (David) of Stanley, N.C.; four grandchildren, Joseph James, Ray James II, Brandon James, Railyn Rolin and Jeremy and five great grandchildren, Chance James, Sidney James, Brodie James, Gracie James and Ian James.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Elder Eugene Freeland officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Aug. 5, 2009 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brandon James, Ray James II, Mike Rice, Erie Olson, Jimmy Hemmert and Frank Presley.
