NWE falls at state tourney

Northwest Escambia’s 12-year-old All-Star softball team, which won its district and sectional tournaments fell short in their state tournament losing three straight games.

In their third and final game of the state tournament, the NWE All-Stars fell to South Tampa 8-0 in what would be their worst loss of their All-Star season.
In the first inning, the Northwest Escambia players stepped up to the plate, but went down three and out as Reagan Bell, Madison Arrington and Darby Randolph could not make it on base.
In South Tampa’s first at-bat, they quickly took the lead 2-0 as their first two batters, Brown and Valdez, reached base and scored on a double by Brown.
Northwest Escambia’s offense continued to stall in the second and third innings while South Tampa continued to score adding three more runs in the bottom of the third inning with Harrera, Brown and Wishart all crossing the plate.
In the fifth inning, South Tampa scored three more runs to go up 8-0 as Harerra and Brown scored their second runs of the game and Prezeslawski scored her first.
The offensive woes would continue through the rest of the game for Northwest Escambia as they were only able to put Bell and Randolph on base in the final inning giving South Tampa a run into the fourth round and sending Northwest Escambia home.
Windermere 11

After losing their first round game to Mims, the Northwest Escambia 12-year-old All-Star softball team looked for redemption against Windermere, but were unable to score enough runs as they were beaten 11-2.
Through the first three innings, Northwest Escambia could not put any runs on the board or any players on the basepath as they quickly fell behind.
In the bottom of the first inning, Windermere jumped ahead 5-0 as Morrison, Hines, Clarkson, Bradford and Paulson all crossed the plate.
Northwest Escambia finally got on the board in the top of the fourth as Danielle Steadham and Mallory Ryan were each walked and scored on a double by Kyndal Hall to pull within three runs.
Windermere added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth as Chabot and Coraden scored to put their team up 7-2.
Northwest Escambia again fell in a slump as they could not score any more runs in the game.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Windermere secured their win by adding four runs with Clarkson, Pagaine, Pualson and Chabot all scored to put Windermere up 11-2.
Mims 12
NWE 3
In their first round game of the state tournament, the Northwest Escambia 12-year-old All-Stars were crushed 12-3 by Mims.
Mims scored first in the top of the second inning as Campbell, Quinn and Kerchner all scored to put their team ahead 3-0.
They added to their lead in the top of the third with Campbell scoring her second run of the game to put Mims up 4-0.
Northwest Escambia pulled back into the game with a three-run third inning as Reagan Bell, Darby Randolph and Danielle Steadham all crossed the plate to pull within one run of Mims.
After Northwest Escambia scored, Mims ran away with the game scoring five runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to pick up the win 12-3 to open the tournament.
