Misty Doran, a senior at Northview High School did not garner much attention earlier this month on national signing day, mostly because the stand out softball player had already signed a softball scholarship with Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Ala. in mid-January.
The daughter of Jerry and Susan Doran has played softball for 13 years starting with tee ball. She played little league and travel ball where she won two World Series titles.
Doran has won two-straight district titles as a member of the Lady Chiefs. She has been on the varsity team since she was a seventh grader. Her primary position is pitcher, but she said she also enjoys playing shortstop.
Wallace State won the 2008 National Junior College Athletic Association Division I National Championship, finishing national runner-up on two other occasions and third in 2012.
It reclaimed the top spot in the state in 2012, winning its fifth Alabama Community College Conference state championship in six seasons and its seventh straight northern division title.
The Lions finished with a 60-12 record and had a third-place finish at the NJCAA tournament.
