There will be a change in airwaves around the Atmore area this football season as 105.9 FM WNSI will begin broadcasting Escambia Academy Cougars football games for the 2009 season.
Escambia Academy school board president Chris Kirk said the school was approached by the radio station about the possiblity.
WNSI will broadcast all 11 of the Academy’s football games, which has them making the trips to places such as Sparta Academy, Patrician Academy and even Bessmer Academy just outside of Birmingham.
Jason Parker, an Escambia Academy graduate, is the announcer that will call the action for the Cougars this fall.
Kirk said not only will listeners be able to hear the sounds of the game on WNSI, but also on the Academy’s new Web site. He added there is going to be another special feature on that site as well.
As for now the Cougars have a one-year contract with WNSI, but Kirk hopes to extend on that deal. He said he wants to get other Cougar sports involved and possibly for a longer period of time.
Escambia Academy’s Web site is currently under construction, but can be viewed at www.escambiaacademy.org\new.
