Longtime Atmore resident Byard Swift died Friday night, his family said.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Atmore.

Swift was an active volunteer in many Atmore organizations. He was a Boy Scout leader who raised three sons in Scouting and also helped renovate the city’s Boy Scout hut in recent years. A veteran of World War II and member of the VFW, he also helped lead an effort to establish the city’s Veterans Memorial.
