ATMORE - Mrs. Cubia Dean Hicks Colbert, 84, passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 in Atmore. Cubia was a native of Laurel, Miss. a resident of Atmore for the past 60 years and attended the United Pentecostal Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Her husband, John Henry Colbert, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Dean Colbert of Bay Minette and Johnny Colbert of Atmore; a daughter, Linda Rolin of Atmore; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Lynn Hicks and Harless Dee Hicks, both of Laurel, Miss. and three sisters, Jimmie Lee Gerken of Houston, Texas, Ardeal Hicks of Pomball, Texas and Inez Barron of Sulpher, La.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Rolin and the Rev. Fred Gibbs officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Larry Watts, James Colbert, Danny Hughes, Randy Johnson, Douglas Kelley and John Kelley.
Honorary pallbearers were Danny Lowery and Joel Migas.
