PENSACOLA, Fla. - Buford Dykes, 86, of Pensacola, Fla. died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 in Pensacola.
He was retired from the Building Construction, born in Chipley, Fla. on June 18, 1923 to the late Joshua and Mary Francis Burke Dykes. He was a very hardworking, very generous and a loving man.
His wife, Mary Louise Dykes; two sons, George Dykes and Charles Dykes; three sisters, Sidney Evans, Inez Weekley and Vellamae Kurcher and one brother, Vral Dykes, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Torijano and husband, Orlando of Columbus, Ga.; one brother, Franklin Dykes and one sister, Eunice Hardy and three grandchildren, Kenneth Dykes, Leslie Torijano and Chris Torijano.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 12, 2009 from the Enon Baptist Church in Enon, Fla. with the Rev. Chip Love officiating. Interment will follow in the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
