NOKOMIS - Mr. Homer Brown Jr., 81, of Nokomis died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at Atmore Nursing Center.
Mr. Brown retired from Standard Furniture Company.
His parents, Homer Sr. and Vera Brown; two sisters, Minnie Lynch and Mae Ida Smiley and two brothers, Clarence Brown and J.S. Brown, preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Mrs. Fannie Brown; five daughters, Martha (Alfred) Ingram of Atmore, Elizabeth (Albert) Hazley, Demetrius (Robert) Fountain of Pensacola, Fla., Shirley Brown of Atmore and Chennelle Beacham of Montgomery; six sons, Willie Brown of Moss Point, Miss, Caleb (Linda) Brown of Moss Point, Miss., Ms., Roosevelt (Betty) Brown of Pine Bluff, Ark., Homer (Doritha) Brown III of Montgomery, Dewanzo Brown of Japan and Andre Brown of Brick, N.J.; two sisters, Millie Harper of Cleveland, Ohio and Vera Smallwood of Atmore; four brothers, Wallace Brown and Hoover (Helen) Brown, both of Atmore, Eugene Brown of Cleveland, Ohio and Carl (Frankie) Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at the Mt. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Willie Williams, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in the Mt. Shiloh Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and his body will lie instate at the Church one hour prior to the funeral services.
Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore will be directing.
