A name change is not the only thing that the Muskogee Inn has done after going independent from Best Western on Feb. 12.
Along with the name change, the Poarch Creek Indian owned hotel has also made some upgrades to their grounds, services and security.
Rochel Martin, general manager of the Muskogee Inn, said the name was changed due to the Poarch Creek Indians wanting to break away from Best Western. She added that upgrades to the hotel had already begun before the change.
The newest change to the grounds has been to make the pool area more comfortable.
Covered pavilions and new chairs and tables have been placed around the pool to add some shade.
Angel Caraway, assistant manager for the Muskogee Inn, said the pavilions make it much more comfortable for the entire family.
A service has been added for those who need access to a computer is high-speed Internet access.
Martin said there was a need for the fast Web-access because of the prevalence of business people that stay at the hotel.
Other upgrades at the Muskogee Inn include new security cameras with access to the entire grounds and flat-screen televisions being added to all rooms.
Martin said the upgrades along with the services and amenities offered help the Muskogee Inn compete with other hotels. She added the aside from the upgrades, the main thing that will help the Inn is the economy.
Muskogee Inn offers several amenities including coffee pots, microwaves, blow-dryers, irons and ironing boards and a wake-up call service.
The Muskogee Inn is located right off of I-65 exit 57 on Highway 21.
