Following their win over Faith Academy two weeks ago, the Escambia County Blue Devils fell off the map in terms of performance losing two straight games to the Spanish Fort Toros and the Baldwin County Tigers.
The Blue Devils (1-4, 1-2) are hoping to erase the woes of their previous two games with a homecoming win over region opponent the LeFlore Rattlers.
A win would give the Blue Devils an outside chance at making the playoffs.
Blue Devils head coach Kyle Davis said winning the game is key if his team wants to jump back in the playoff race.
Offensive production has dropped in the last two games for the Blue Devils with Atmore’s team being held to below 10 points in both games.
One reason for the dropoff was an injury to starting quarterback Rico Stallworth who suffered a concussion in the Spanish Fort game, according to Davis.
Davis said the Stallworth has been cleared and should get the offensive timing back in place.
The play on the defensive side of the ball has been rough as well with the Blue Devil defense having trouble keeping their opponents out of the end zone.
Davis said getting the defense back to playing their style of football is a must.
The Blue Devils and Rattlers kick off the homecoming game Friday at 7 p.m. at Herbert Barnes Stadium.
