Commission OKs EA bus contract

Students who use the Escambia County Area Transit System to get to Escambia Academy, may see a drop in their transportation costs thanks to an agreement by the Escambia County Commission.
Commissioners agreed on Monday to continue providing transportation to those students at Escambia Academy on a contract-basis with the school paying the full cost of the service.
Betty Warren, headmaster at Escambia Academy, said the contract would result in parents saving money on transportation fees.
Warren said the transportation costs from ECATS paid by the school is passed on to parents of students who use the service.
Residents along Peacock Road will no longer be subjected to the dangers of big trucks using the road. Commissioner Brandon Smith said residents on the road have expressed concerns with speeding and other traffic related issues.
Commissioners agreed to post the road “no thru trucks,” which will eliminate large trucks from the road.
