ATMORE - Edith Cruit Mays, 101, of Atmore died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 in Mobile.
She was a retired home economics teacher with the Escambia County School system, also a member of the First United Methodist Church, born in Atmore on Aug. 26, 1908 to the late Robert F. and Ada Ward Cruit.
Her husband, James McCoy “Mac” Mays, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Robert William Mays and wife, Angela of Atmore and James Cruit Mays and wife, Judy of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Melanie Andrade, Scott Cruit Mays and David Wright Mays and four great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 12, 2009 from the First United Methodist Church of Atmore with the Rev. Jim Reece officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday evening, Dec. 11, 2009 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the United Methodist Children’s Home or the Waterfront Rescue Mission of Mobile.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of all arrangements.
