Escambia County residents have an opportunity to get to work with job testing through the U.S. Census Bureau.
Census forms will be delivered in March to every residence in the United States and Puerto Rico. With only 10 questions on the form, filling them out and returning them shouldn’t be a difficult task. For those who don’t send in their completed forms, a census taker will be knocking on your door.
That fact is making it possible for temporary, part-time jobs to be available for residents within each community, Shekeena Bradley, Escambia County recruiting assistant said.
The census taker jobs are short-term jobs that offer good pay, flexible hours and paid training, Bradley said.
Although some testing for the positions to be filled in Escambia County has been held, additional opportunities have been made available.
Pay in Escambia County starts at $12.25 per hour, Bradley said.
For those interested in testing for an opportunity to work as a census taker, tests are being offered in the Atmore, Flomaton and Brewton areas over the next few weeks.
Atmore testing will be conducted at the Atmore City Hall at 201 E. Louisville Ave. on Friday, March 5 at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, March 16 at 1 p.m.
Flomaton testing will be conducted at the Little Escambia Baptist church at 445 Hwy. 113 Monday, March 8 at 1 p.m. and Monday, March 15 at 9 a.m.
Brewton testing will be conducted at the Escambia County Extension office at 175 Ag-Science Dr. behind Southern Pine Electric Cooperative on Tuesday, March 2 at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 11 at 6 p.m. and Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m.
Interested applicants should call the Census Jobs phone number to register for a test or if they have any questions: 1-866-861-2010. The direct number to the Montgomery Local Census Office is 334-450-2351. Applicants can also call this number for information about supervisory opportunities and test dates for supervisory positions, if they have taken and passed the non-supervisory test.
