Ten questions, 10 minutes. That’s the amount of time the U.S. Census Bureau estimates you’ll have to fill out this year’s Census forms — one of the shortest Census forms in U.S. history.
Those forms began arriving in mailboxes last week, and local officials are hoping residents will take the time to fill out the questionnaires and return them.
What’s at stake?
County Commission Chairman David Stokes echoed those concerns.
And Stokes said residents should not worry about filling out the forms, which ask a series of basic questions about how many people live in a residence, the type of dwelling and the race and ethnicity of the individuals in each home.
The most detailed information the form seeks is a phone number.
Sanks said he hopes residents will take the time for fill out the form.
If you do not receive a form, you can call the U.S. Census Bureau’s assistance center at 1-866-872-6868.
According to the Census Bureau, many residents who don’t fill out a form will receive a replacement survey. If no form is mailed back, residents can expect a personal visit from a census taker sometime after March 2010.
