THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Gertrude Estelle Pugh Odom, 91, of the Woodlands, Texas formerly of Atmore died Friday, April 2, 2010 in The Woodlands, Texas.
She was a homemaker, born in Escambia County, Fla. on Feb. 21, 1919 to the late Riley Ransom and Ella Leona Jackson Pugh. She was the seventh of 16 children.
Gertrude accepted Christ, as her Savior at an early age and was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Jay, Fla. later at First United Methodist Church in Atmore and lastly has been attending The Woodlands United Methodist Church in The Woodlands, Texas.
She was united in holy matrimony with Alvie Wilson Odom (John) who preceded her in death, also, sisters, Lula Carden, Elizabeth Jackson, Leona Odom, Laura Hart; brothers, William Pugh, R.C. Pugh, John Henry Pugh and Richard Pugh and two baby brothers, Kenneth Douglas and Alvin preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Nancy Odom Wertz and husband, Barry, her daughter, Janet Odom Frazier and husband, Bernie; her grandson, Lee Wertz and wife, Jennifer; granddaughter’s, Melanie Morris Sigler and husband, Tommy, Heather Wertz Catlow and husband, John; nine wonderful great grandchildren, Allison Wertz, Anna Wertz, Audrey Wertz, Dalton Sigler, Justin Sigler, Eric Catlow, Missy Catlow, Missy Catlow, Halle Catlow and Max Catlow; her sisters, Betty Hammons, Faye Rowell and husband, Roy; her brothers, Aubrey Pugh, Calvin Pugh and wife, JoAnn and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Reece officiating. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens. Family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
