WALNUT HILL, Fla. - Dolores Ruth Peters, 80, of Walnut Hill, Fla. died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in Century, Fla.
She was a homemaker, born in Petoskey, Mich. on July 20, 1929 to the late William M. and Verelda Smith Detwiler. She and Vernon moved from Michigan to Florida in 1953. Dolores and Vernon served fresh apple cider and homemade baked goods at the Apply House in Walnut Hill, Fla. from 1985-1998.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon D. Peters of Walnut Hill, Fla.; three sons, Larry Peters and wife, Wanda, of Wrens, Ga., Randy Peters and wife, Cyndi, of Bratt, Fla. and Erich Peters and wife, Nancy, of Davisville, Fla.; two daughters, Lorinda Lumbert of Sparta, Mich. and Debbie Litwiller and husband, Jon, of Middleton, Mich.; two sisters, Shirley Zimmerman and husband, Ray, of Sumner, Mich. and Carol Singleton of Canoe; 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010 from Walnut Hill Mennonite Church with the Rev. Verle Peters, the Rev; Don Gable and the Rev. Galen Harms officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be the grandsons.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening April 10, 2010 at Atmore Memorial Chapel.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of all arrangements.
