There were no injuries in a two-vehicle wreck Wednesday morning at the intersection of Jack Springs Road and Smith Dairy Road, but investigators are still working to determine exactly what caused the accident, in which both drivers claim to have been traveling in the same direction.
The wreck took place at approximately 9:45 a.m. when a Chevrolet minivan driven by Julie Sarafolean, of Atmore, collided with a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Jennifer Drew, also of Atmore.
Drew said she was traveling south on Jack Springs Road and noticed Sarafolean’s vehicle stopped a stop sign, facing east, on Smith Dairy Road.
“She just kind of pulled out in front of me,” Drew said. “There wasn’t much I could do.”
Sarafolean also said she was headed south on Jack Springs Road, but added she was not sure exactly what happened.
“I didn’t really see what happened,” she said. “I was just driving when I was hit.”
Sarafolean’s vehicle was upended by the impact and came to rest on the passenger’s side, with visible damage to the driver’s side of the van, while Drew’s vehicle sustained damage to the front portion of the Suburban.
Neither driver was injured in the wreck, which remains under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers office.
