Locals join together for Unity Day

Local citizens will be coming together today at Houston Avery Park for the aptly titled Unity Day celebration, organized by the Concerned Citizens of Atmore.
Sandra Gray, CCOA member, said the event is designed to create a family-friendly atmosphere that will also provide public services, such as educational booths and information on kids’ health insurance.
Gray said this year’s event will take place today, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Houston Avery Park, which is located at 200 Martin Luther King Ave.
Events scheduled for the day include: A “Back To School Bash” event; free school uniforms and supplies; dental health awareness; finger printing for kids; All Kids health insurance information; kids’ nutritional information; an anti-bullying skit; drill teams; step teams; youth talent; storytelling; a bouncer ride for kids; face painting; parent and kid relay races; an adult softball tournament; flag football and more.
