Atmore drenched by heavy rains

A photo taken by David Gehman at the corner of Ridgeley St.. and N. Main St. shows motorists risking high waters to cross through the intersection Tuesday night in Atmore.
Heavy rains in a short period of time caused dangerous conditions for motorists in Atmore tonight and may have left some business owners with a hefty price tag for repairing water damage.
According to the National Weather Service, the Atmore area received over a foot of rain in just one hour, between approximately 6 and 7 p.m.
Possible water damage was reported at businesses in downtown, such as Country Charms on Ridgeley Street.
