An Atmore-based charity has helped Flomaton finish a phase of the town’s Abernathy Park project.
Gulf Coast Resource Conservation and Development Council last week presented the town with a $14,283 check for the project that started over five years ago.
“Thank you, we really appreciate it,” said Flomaton Mayor Dewey Bondurant. “We are so grateful. This is something we worked on for so long.”
The money will help complete phase two of the four-phase project. The phase included fencing, public restrooms, parking, picnic tables and a wheelchair ramp, said Darnisha McCants, Gulf Coast RC&D executive director.
“We’re very pleased to partner with the town on park funding to make some improvements,” said Raymond Wiggins, Gulf Coast RC&D chairman. “We’re very happy to be able to help out with this.”
