Atmore Mayor Jim Staff confirmed Thursday that the city’s new Walmart has a tentative opening date of June 9.

Walmart plans to build a 70,000-square-foot facility off North Main Street, on land that is located between the Oak Hill Cemetery and the Atmore Realty headquarters.

Atmore’s Walmart will be similar to many stores, except it will not have an auto care center. Construction on the site began in mid-December 2013.
