Atmore students place in top 3 at school district spelling bee

The Escambia County Schools Spelling Bee was held Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Flomaton High School media center.
Two students from the Atmore area placed in the top three in the third-through-fifth grade division. Sydney Lisenby, from Huxford Elementary School, finished in second place, and Aniya Stots, from A.C. Moore Elementary School, finished in third place.
Rachel Stuckey, of W.S. Neal Elementary School, was the division champion. In the sixth-through-eighth grade division, the champion was Emily Creamer, from Pollard McCall Junior High School.
Also competing in the bee from Atmore area schools were Shantele Richardson of Escambia County Middle School, who was in the third-through-fifth grade division; and Travon Phillips of ECMS and Ian McGhee of HES, who were in the sixth-through-eighth grade division.
The two champions will complete Thursday, Feb. 13, at 9 a.m. at Flomaton High School, in the Escambia County Spelling Bee.
