The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a wind chill advisory for an area that includes Escambia County.
The advisory will be in effect from midnight tonight until 8 a.m. Friday. The temperature could drop as low as 8 to 10 degrees in some areas, according to the NWS.
A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and increased wind speeds will combine to generate low wind chills of less than 10 degrees. This could result in frostbite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
The NWS recommends wearing hats and gloves if you go outdoors during the wind chill advisory time.
The forecast for Friday includes a high of 43 degrees and a low of 27 degrees. Temperatures are expected to warm through the weekend, including a Saturday high of 59 degrees and a low of 31 degrees.
