James Edward Qualls

Mr. James Edward Qualls, 82, of Goodway Junction, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Monroe County Hospital.

He worked with Monsanto as a chemical operator. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Uriah. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #593 of Uriah and Huxford, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Kych, Allied Masonic Degree, Order of Purple Cross, Knight Commander Court of Honor, Past Sovereign of Red Cross, Eastern Star, Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star Clayton Chapter 306, and past Governor General Alabama College #51.

His parents, Jim and Berta Qualls; his brother, Roy Qualls; and his sons, Eddie Qualls and Thomas Dees preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Margarette Davis Qualls of Goodway Junction; his son, Jerry Qualls of Goodway Junction; daughters, Judy Wilkinson of Goodway Junction, Glenda Wages of Excel and Janie Wilkins of Goodway Junction; daughter-in-law, Amy Qualls; brother, Jimmy Qualls of Goodway Junction; sister, Carol Blake of Goodway Junction; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charlie McGhee and the Rev. Dianne Everette officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery with Masonic honors.

Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the funeral home.
