An Atmore man was sentenced to life in prison Friday, in connection with the November 2012 murder of a Davisville, Fla., lottery store owner.

Michael Brad Orso, 28, was found guilty of the charge of first-degree premeditated murder, according to information from the Escambia County, Fla., Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Orso was convicted for his role in the attempted robbery and killing of Thomas “Tommy” Kroll, the owner and operator of the O’Yes Lotto store on Florida Highway 97, just across the Alabama-Florida line. The murder took place on Nov. 6, 2012.

Two other men from the Atmore area — 25-year-old Malcolm McGhee Jr., and 21-year-old Brent Lambeth — were also charged with murder in connection to the same fatal shooting. McGhee was convicted in September 2013 for his role as the shooter, and was sentenced to life in prison.

Lambeth, who entered the store along with McGhee, is currently awaiting sentencing. Lambeth has pleaded no contest to his charge of second-degree murder.

Orso had pleaded not guilty to the murder charge in December 2013.
