A single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Monroe County claimed the life of an Atmore man.

According to Sgt. Steve Jarrett of the Alabama Department of Public Safety, William Harrelson, 33, of Atmore, was killed when his 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer left the roadway on Butler Street at approximately 12:15 a.m. Saturday. Harrelson’s vehicle struck a tree and caught fire.

Jarrett reported that Harrelson was not wearing a seat belt.

No further information was immediately available, as the Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
