Junetta Marianne Horace

Mrs. Junetta Marianne Horace, 79, of Stockton, transitioned from earth to eternity on Sat., Aug. 30, 2014, at her residence.
A native of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Horace relocated to Stockton in 1986. She had been a member of Zion Fountain A.M.E. Zion Church since 1998. As a member of Zion Fountain, she served as an usher, member of Senior and Inspirational Choirs, the Sunday school, and Missionary Department. She was a supporter of the Youth Department of the church.
She was a member of the Area Women Action Group (AWAG) of Baldwin County, worked as a substitute teacher in Baldwin County, and worked with the Voter Registration Department.
In her leisure, she enjoyed playing the piano, reading, writing stories, bowling, composing songs, dancing, and traveling.
Preceding her in death are her son, Kenneth H. King, and her parents, Summerfield and Gertrude King.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Joe M. Horace of Stockton; one step-daughter, Wilma Jean Davis of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Juanita Nesbit and Ada Steenken, both of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Cornelius King of Bellwood, Ill.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Zion Fountain A.M.E. Zion Church in Stockton with the Rev. Richard Dockery Jr., pastor, officiating. Retirement of her remains will be in the Vaughn Cemetery.
Her body will lie in state at the church from noon until funeral time with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
