Lucy Brooks Howard

Lucy Brooks Howard was born to the late Ben Salter Sr. and Minnie Lee Salter on June 6, 1942, in Flomaton. She went to be with the Lord on Sept. 29, 2014, while at her residence surrounded by her family.
Her husband, Willie J. Howard; her parents; her brother, Ben Salter Jr. and a granddaughter, Antonique L. Straughn, preceded her in death.
She attended Pollard McCall Junior high School and became a graduate of Southern Normal School. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family and made lifelong sacrifices for them. She worked for many years in the dietary industry. Her love for her family was never ending.
She leaves to cherish her memories six children, Clemente Brooks, Vanessa (Aubrey) Washington, both of Flomaton, Willie (Rhonda) Brooks Jr. of Canton, Ga., Arthur Brooks III, Sonja (Anthony) Straughn and Rita (Timmy) Kyles, all of Flomaton; one brother, Michael (Mary) Salter of Reddick, Fla.; three sisters, Ida (Henry) Guice of Apple Springs, Texas, Mamie (Alton) Watts of Atmore and Vivian Salter (Bobby Ware) of Flomaton; 21 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three god-children, Zelma (Albert) Arndell, Ty Lett and Quinton Odom; two aunts, Ruby Jean Dixon and Sophronia Quinley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in Flomaton, with Pastor Henry Hawkins officiating. Burial followed in Damacus Cemetery.
