Hercules Betts Sr.

Mr. Hercules Betts Sr., 72, of Atmore, entered sweet heavenly rest on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at Atmore Community Hospital.
A native and longtime resident of Atmore, Mr. Betts was a retired concrete finisher, a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, and had attended Escambia County Training School. He loved fishing and enjoyed hunting and mechanic work.
Those who await his heavenly arrival are his parents, Thomas Edward and Johnnie Mae Betts; one sister, Eddie Mae Betts-Dailey; and three brothers, Horace Betts, Frank Betts and Chester Betts.
Those who will forever cherish his loving memories are his wife, Dorothy Jean Betts of Atmore; four daughters, Dorothy Ann Riley, Delois B. Green, Mary L. Patterson and Katherine Lawson, all of Atmore; three sons, Bobby L. Betts, Hercules Betts Jr. and John Claude Betts, all of Atmore; seven sisters, Hattie B. Curry of Loughman, Fla., Minnie Hertz and Delois Maddox, both of Orlando, Fla., Lizzie Mae Greene of California, Essie Mae (Ishmal) Walker and Rosetta Lawson, both of Atmore, and Flora Greene of Repton; three brothers, Robert (Margie) Betts of Orlando, Fla., John (Betty) Betts and Tommy W. Betts of Atmore; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Benjamin Stallworth, pastor, officiating. Inhumation was in Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC directing.
