Alfreda Medora Boykin

Ms. Alfreda Medora Boykin, 54, of Uriah, transitioned from Earth to Eternity on Wed., Nov. 20, 2014, at Monroe County Hospital.
A native of Monroe County, and a longtime resident of Uriah, she was a 1977 graduate of J.U. Blacksher High School. She attended Reid State Technical College and Patrick Henry State Jr. College (now Alabama Southern Community College) in Monroeville, where she studied Business Administration. She had worked as an associate with Walmart in Monroeville and prior to that she had worked as a machine operator at Stay Fast Co. in Uriah.
In her leisure she loved flowers, arts and crafts, working on the computer as she printed many types of programs, and doing videos. She was a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Uriah.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janie Lou Boykin Roach, and her grandmother, Elizabeth “Lizzie” McKenzie.
Those left to cherish memories of her life are two sons, Travis (Pearl) Boykin of Atmore and Gabriel Boykin of Uriah; one sister, Debro Boykin of Uriah; four brothers, Harold Boykin of Atmore, Frederick (Ethel) Boykin of Latham, Frank Boykin of Uriah and Elmer (Marvis) Black of Mobile; a devoted sister-in-law, Carletta Boykin of Atmore; six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Uriah, with the Rev. Joseph Dean IV, pastor, officiating. Inhumation was held in Uriah Community Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
