Blue Devils split recent area games

The Escambia County High School Blue Devils split a pair of area game on the road last week.
ECHS lost at Jackson, 66-57, on Tuesday, Jan. 20, but bounced back to win at Vigor on Friday night, 71-65.
The Blue Devils’ record improved to 12-10 overall, and 2-2 in Class 5A, Area 2.

The Blue Devils lost at home to Vigor on Jan. 13, but returned the favor Friday night as they picked up the road win.
“We came out with a mission to win,” ECHS coach Terrence Walker said. “Melik McMillan was having a good game and we just kept giving our big man the ball.”
McMillan finished with 23 points, and Anthony Fountain added 13. Tristion Knott and Devon Robinson each added 10 points, and Jerome Webster scored nine.
Jackson boys 66, ECHS boys 57
Walker said that his team was not ready to play Tuesday, Jan. 20, in their area game loss at Jackson.
“They just beat us,” he said. “We did not come out to play.”
Webster led the Blue Devils with 18 points, and McMillan scored 11. Robinson added eight points and Devonte Lee scored five.
