Here they are folks, your 2010 Atmore Advance Diamond Kings.

Twelve players have been chosen as a part of the fourth annual All-Area team, which is compiled from the three area schools in our coverage.

This year’s Player of the Year is Northview Chiefs senior Austin Reid.

Reid was dominant at the plate and on the mound for the Chiefs and posted impressive numbers.

Reid’s pitching stats really helped set him apart from the other Diamond Kings to help him gain the honor.

During the season he went 8-3 with 102 strikeouts and a 1.51 earned run average.

When he had a bat in his hands he was just as successful batting .382 with 26 hits, 25 RBI and a homerun to his credit.

Reid really put forth a strong effort this season to help push his team as far as they could go.

In my interview with him, he said after one loss he talked to his team and explained that everyone needed to be committed to winning if the Chiefs were to be successful and make the playoffs.

It apparently worked as they advanced to the second round before they were defeated.

Reid’s accomplishment is certainly deserving.

The other Diamond Kings are also deserving.

Joining Reid from Northview were four teammates including Dabney Langhorne, Austin Arrington, Brad Lowery and Heath Burkett.

Each one of these Chiefs were a reason for their success during the 2010 season.

From Escambia County there are four players who had what it took to make the team.

Haden McGill, Marshall Rolin, Nick Flowers and Devante Brown all posted strong numbers and really did the best they could this year.

The Cougars of Canoe have three players representing the school on this year’s All-Area team.

Senior Jon Dean and juniors Jarret Hadley and Keaton Maher did a lot for their team this season.

They helped pull together a team in need of wins during the middle of the season and pushed their way into the playoffs.

Everyone on the All-Area team had some sort of key ingredient to help their team this season.

They all gave their best effort and proved to be worthy.

Congratulations to all of you.
