Both city pools have been bustling with activity in June, and swimming lessons are still available for those parents who want their children to learn how to swim.

Registration for Session III of swimming lessons at Tom Byrne Park will be held Monday, July 6, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Session III is Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 30.

Small group lessons will be offered Monday through Friday, with each class being one hour each day at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m.

One-on-one lessons will be offered Tuesday and Thursday nights, with each class being held for 30 minutes at 5:15 p.m., 5:45 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. The cost is $35 per student, per session.

Houston Avery Park will also have swimming lessons Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. until noon, with a cost of 75 cents per lesson. For more information on lessons at Houston Avery Park, call Vangela Franklin at (251) 294-2167.

Both pools will remain open throughout most of the summer. The Tom Byrne Park has regular swimming Mondays through Saturdays, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $1 for 15 and younger, and $1.50 for 16 and older.

The Houston Avery Park has regular swimming Mondays through Fridays, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. There is also a special adult swimming time, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Admission for all swimmers is $1 per person.
