Jimmie Blake Croley
Mr. Jimmie Blake Croley, 16, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000. He was an avid hunter and played golf at Northview High School.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Jack Croley and Wilson Levins.
Blake is survived by his parents, Shelia Owen of Byrneville and Jimmie Earl and Rita Croley of Century; three sisters, Genia Chancery Bashore and her husband Dave, of Tallassee, Ala., Malita White and her husband Lavon, of Flomaton and Chelsea Owen of Byrneville, two brothers, Kris Chancery and his wife Mandy of Kansas City, Mo. and Cole Wilson of Byrneville; two nephews, Zackery and Kegan White of Flomaton; his grandparents, Ida Croley of Century, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Johnson of Jay and his great-grandmother, Clara Kelly of Byrneville.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at the Northview High School gymnasium at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Keese and Coach Gene Ellison officiating.
Burial followed at Byrneville Cemetery with Atmore Memorial Chapel directing.
Active pallbearers were Tad Bush, Bo Godwin, Dusty Godwin, Josh King, Shane Campbell and John Coleman.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Labue, Ron Derby, Todd Levins, Coy Campbell Jr., Terry Levins, Tony Levins, Kevin Watson, Javis Grimes and Hank Campbell.
Claudia Smith
Mrs. Claudia Smith, 93, a resident of Atmore, died Jan. 1, 2000, at Atmore Nursing Care Center.She was a native of Evergreen, a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Choir.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. D. C. Smith.
She is survived by three sons, James Oliver of Ocala, Fla., Samuel Oliver of Portsmouth, Va., and Sam Oliver of Oxford, Pa.; a sister, Carrie Rankin of Evergreen; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, at noon at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church. Burial was at Stallworth Cemetery.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Winifred Roy "Peanut" Killam
Mr. Winifred Roy "Peanut" Killam, 71, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, in a Pensacola hospital. He had been a lifetime resident of Century, and he was a member of Abundant Life Church.
Mr. Killam is survived by his wife, Geraldine G. Killam of Bratt; two sons, Gavin Roy Killam and his wife Barbara of Tuscaloosa and Terry Dale Killam, and his wife Brenda of Century; two daughters, Glenda K. McElhaney and her husband Jerry of Bratt and Tara K. Wiggins and her husband Burton of Bratt; two brothers, Willard Killam and his wife, Mildred, of Flomaton and Alton Killam and his wife Muriel of Bratt; a sister, Ruth Martin of Atmore; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Dale, Tiffany, Keri, Chris, Sara, Chad, Wesley, and Kyle and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe Lee, the Rev. Kevin Flannagan and the Rev. Gene Hudson officiating.
Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Craig Richardson, Forrest Sutton III, James Sutton, Damon Ward, Donnie Henry, and Eric Johnson.
