As a way of saying thanks, a community-wide celebration for Pepsi Bottling Co. of Atmore will be held at Tom Byrne Park on Sunday afternoon.

The celebration marks the local bottling company’s finish as one of the top three bottlers in the nation. Pepsi Bottling Co. out of Gulfport, Miss., took home the top prize.

“All we wanted to do was try to figure out a way to thank them for everything they do for the community,” the celebration organizer, who requested his name not be used for this article, said. “We just felt like we need to take time to thank them.”

Alabama Wing House held a party of its own for Pepsi last Sunday afternoon.

The celebration will last from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Hot dogs, sausage dogs, chips and sodas will be served.

Residents will provide the entertainment.

“We just want to have a huge turnout,” the organizer said. “(Atmore) Mayor Jim Staff is going to make sure the local police and fire is going to be out there.”
