A Florida man was killed Sunday morning on Escambia County 12, two miles north of Atmore, according to law enforcement officials.
Trooper Reginal King said Christopher George Robbinson, 42, was killed when the 2012 Suzuki motorcycle he was operating left the roadway and struck a culvert.
King said Robbinson was a McDavid, Fla., resident.
Escambia County Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said the sheriff’s office, a medical unit and troopers were dispatched to the area of the motorcycle accident.
“When emergency personnel arrived, they found the subject unresponsive lying off of the median of the road,” Lambert said. “According to the investigation conducted by the state troopers office and deputies on the scene, it appeared that he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a culvert, throwing him into a street sign.”
Lambert said Robbins was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His body was transported to the Department of Forensic Sciences and the case remains under investigation,” he said.
The crash occurred at around 10:45 a.m.
