Atmore woman killed in 3-car crash

A Cantonment, Fla. woman has been charged with DUI manslaughter after she drove in the path of an Atmore couple last Friday evening, according to media reports.

According to reports, Ahearn was traveling south on Highway 29 in a 2006 Town and Country van near Muscogee when she turned directly into the path of a northbound 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by John Edward Ryland, 56, of Atmore. The passenger in the Tahoe, Barbara M. Ryland, 61, also of Atmore, was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, where she was pronounced deceased.

Ryland was not wearing a seat belt, according to reports.

During the collision, a third vehicle, driven by Dontavious Rashwn Anderson, 21, also of Cantonment, collided with Ryland’s front right side after Ahearn’s vehicle rotated clockwise. Anderson was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt.

John Ryland has since been released from the hospital.

Anderson was transported to West Florida Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
